androp 「Ghost」MV

androp’s first single of the year is the theme song to Ghost Writer (「ゴーストライター」), a new Japanese drama about the relationship between a novelist who’s hit her plateau, and a younger talented writer who works as a ghostwriter for a living.

I’ve not seen the drama for myself. In fact, it’s been a while since I saw an actual drama series (besides “Internet Shopping Princes Yoshimi Ida” – 「おとりよせ王子飯田好実」Otoriyose Ouji Iida Yoshimi).

But I digress. This post is about androp’s new MV. Frontman vocalist Takahito Uchisawa wrote the lyrics – which are available in the description box on their Youtube page – sharing how he wanted to explore the psychology of a woman’s perspective, managing their personal hopes, sadness, and mental conflicts, and coming to terms with their true nature and outlook on life.

I’ve been listening to this band since their debut in 2009, but this tone and lyrical depth is a first even for me.

According to their official website, “Ghost” will be released as an EP on March 11, featuring a B-side track “Answer” and a strings version of the lead single. The track itself is also already available on Recochoku.jp.
